Can I take the practical test in my own car?
- Instructor’s car or your car for P’s:
- Hey, so what would be the better option for doing your P’s test? I heard that being in an instructor’s car would put the examiner at ease of mind and you look more “legit” and you’re more likely to pass
- because the car has dual controls which means the examiner has some control should things get out of hand.
- Most of my kids used the instructors car, except for one who had her own car. She used the same instructor as most of the other kids but he normally teaches manual. She actually did some lessons in her own car which is auto.It is interesting … instructors think parents are very brave for taking their kids driving as they have no dual control.
My instructors car had these cool mirrors on the left hand side, which were angled down towards the gutter. Perfect parrallel park.
It really calmed me down before the test having a double lesson to “get into the zone” and practice all of the parking manueovres correctly.
The only reason a person should go with their instructor is to feel more comfortable if you have been driving that car mostly. Its best to do the drive test in a car you are familiar with and have done a 3 point turn AND reverse park in. It makes no difference to the testing officer if the instructor is there, it does not influence the test in any way!
